History of the Department

The discipline of Clinical Pharmacology was introduced in 1983 as a cycle in the general medicine faculty headed by professor, D.M.Sc. Sh. Shalkharov, since 1985 it was reorganized into a course headed by associate professor Tuzelbaev N.K. In 1990, for the first time in Kazakhstan, the Department of Clinical Pharmacology was opened, which until 2000 was headed by D.M.Sc., professor I.R. Kulmagambetov. From 2001 to 2002, the department was reorganized into the course at the Department of Pharmacology (Head of the Department Professor Pichkhadze GM), in 2003 the course was included in the Department of Internal Medicine (Head D.M.Sc., professor Izatullaev EA, then – C.M.Sc., associate professor Tashenova L.K.).

In September 2003 the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Physiotherapy was re-established, which until September 2012 was headed by the Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Zhanpeisova Assiya. The department consisted of clinical pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, exercise therapy and physiotherapy.
From September 2012 to September 2017 department was headed by prof. D.M.Sc. Kairbekov Akyltay

Teaching staff of the department: head – Professor A. Kairbekov, professors Zhanpeisova A.A., Kunanbay K., Ph.D., associate professors: Eralieva BA, Kalieva M.M., Myrzabaeva N. A., Zhumatova M., assistants: Kiyokova B.Kh., Nurgaziyeva G.E. Since September 2016, the department was a part of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2 with a course of related disciplines, which is headed by Professor D.M.Sc. professor Iskakov B.S. Thus, the department was reorganized into the course of clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy.
