History of the Department

The Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases was organized in 1934.

The founder of the department is Professor M.S. Bragin, who headed it from 1934 to 1948. Subsequently, the department was headed by prominent scientists who are the pride of medical science:

  • doctor of medical sciences, professor S.A. Poplavsky (1948-1960)
  • K.A. Kalantaevskaya (1960-1961), U.B. Berdybaev (1961-1971)
  • doctor of medical sciences, professor R.K. Makasheva (1971-1985)
  • doctor of medical sciences, professor U.I. Lonshakov (1985-1991)
  • doctor of medical sciences, professor Z.B. Esengaraeva (1991-1993)
  • doctor of medical sciences, professor M.T. Shakirov (1993-2002)
  • From 2002 to 2017 doctor of medical sciences professor S.M. Nurusheva.
  • 2017-2018 the head of the department was candidate of medical sciences, associate professor U.T. Beisebayeva.

2018-2019 academic year – the department was included in the course of dermatovenerology in the department of infectious diseases.

In 2019, the course was renamed the department of dermatovenereology.

  • 2019-2020 academic year – candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Habizhanov A.B. was appointed the head of the department of  dermatovenereology.
