History of the Department

The subdepartment of Histology with the course of Cytology and Embryology was organized in 1932. At that time the subdepartment had seven microscopes, sixty histologic specimens, and two educational tables.

In 1933 the subdepartment received sepatate premise (forty square metres). The collaborator of the subdepartment Z.F. Guseva did considerable work concerning the organization and improvement of the teaching. In the year of 1937 Z.F. Guseva was appointed head of the subdepartment. In 1937 the first assistant lecturers (A.V. Kirillicheva and I.S. Novic) began to work at the subdepartment.

At that time the collaborators of the subdepartment began to perform the research work. Z.F. Guseva investigated  embryonal pathomorphology (under the guidance of Moscow professor V.K. Beletsky), A.V. Kirillicheva performed the experimental transplantation of the cornea (under the guidance of professor V.P. Roshin).

During the Great Patriotic War the staff of the subdepartment increased because of lecturers who were evacuated from the central medical universities. From 1941 till 1945 the subdepartment was headed by L.I. Falin who arrived from the town of Smolensk. At the same time the following lecturers were admitted to work at the subdepartment: V.V. Anisimova, M.N. Rinchina, E.D. Piskunova. Under the leadership of L.I. Falin the educational process was reconstructed. Such subjects as evolutionary histology and embryology began to be taught deeper.

Professor L.I. Falin delivered lectures excellently, he was an exacting examiner, he paid great attention to the improvement of professional skills of the collaborators. All the lecturers of the subdepartment performed research work, and in 1943 some of them defended their theses. L.I. Falin defended his doctoral thesis on the subject: “Morphology and pathogenesis teratoid tumors of the gonads” in which he suggested new original theory of the origin of tumors from gonocytes. Lecturer A.V. Kirillicheva defended her Candidate’s dissertation on the subject: “Transplantation of the cornea in the condition of autoplasty”. In 1944 V.V. Anisimova defended her Candidate’s dissertation of the morphological features of  peripheral nervous system. In 1945 the lecturer E.D. Piskunova defended her Candidate’s dissertation on the subject: “Morphological changes of the lymph nodes in case of tuberculosis:”

After the end of the Great Patriotic War and reevacuation, the staff of the subdepartment changed, free posts were held by young former graduating students of the Kazakh medical institute: E.P. Smirnova, N.N. Beliayeva, T.S. Pliaskina. At that time the subdepartment was headed by E.G. Troitskaya, who earlier worked at the subdepartment of pathologic anatomy. She paid great attention to the improvement of methodical work. At that time the subdepartment moved to the new educational building were it occupied more lecture-rooms. The number of tables, histologic specimens, and microscopes increased.

In 1962 the lecturer H.H. Musabayeva defended her Candidate’s dissertation, she investigated the influence of ascorbic and nicotinic acids on the development of experimental silicosis. In 1964 the lecturer E.P. Smirnova defended her Candidate’s dissertation on the subject of age-related changes of the spleen of laboratory animals.

A.V. Kirillicheva paid great attention to the scientific work of the students. Her three post-graduate students defended candidate’s dissertations: R.I. From 1971 till 1983 the senior lecturer H.H. Musabayeva headed the subdepartment who earlier graduated from the State medical university. She paid greate attention to the methodical and scientific work at the treatment, pediatrics, and stomatology departments.

Under the guidance of the collaborators of the subdepartment investigated the influence of the vitamin D deficiency, of amino acid imbalance, and of balanced nutrition on the histogenesis and structural features of the inner organs.

At the same time the senior lecturer R.I. Yui performed investigation of the subject: “Combined influence of radiation and dynamic factors on the morphologic and functional changes of the inner organs”. This research work was defended as doctoral dissertation in 1988.

From 1983 till 1998 professor A.S. Tolybekov who earlier defended his Candidate’s and Doctoral dissertations at the Institute of experimental medicine in Leningrad. Under the guidance of A.S. Tolybekov the collaborators of the subdepartment began to investigate the influence of the environment on the organism (in particular, the influence of phosphorus pollution). Two doctoral and two Candidate’s dissertations were defende on that subject.

In 1989 in the Kazakh National Medical University the educational process begin to be performed in the Kazakh language. Senior lecturers R.B. Abyldinov and K.Sh.
