History of the Department

Department of Biochemistry – one of the oldest departments of the University, was organized in 1931. Founder and first head of was the honored worker of science of the Kazakh SSR, Sc.D., and professor B.I.Ilin-Kakuev.

 From the 1960s to 1984 years headed the Department Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR, MD, professor Verbolovich P.A, he was veteran of World War II.

Professor Verbolovich P.A.

Professor  Verbolovich P.A. – was intelligent and erudite scholar  and talented teacher , he was author of 120 publication, including 3 monographs, 3 textbooks.  During the 24 years when prof. P.A.Verbolovich was heard of departmentwas published more than 400 published works. Peter Alekseevich was actively engaged in scientific activities, which was devoted to the muscle and evolutionary biochemistry and pathological chemistry of myoglobin. At the time, Department of Biochemistry AGMI was incorporated into the leading research institutions in the Soviet Union for the Study of myoglobin.

During those years all the educational and methodological work of the department was headed by Professor T.J.Polosuhina, under her leadership, the department became one of the demonstration departments of the institute. Tatiana Jakovlevna was deputy chairman of the Central methodical commission of the Institute.

 The special place in the work of Departmentis Scientific Student Group (SSG) in the different years the head of the SSGwas A.L.Dyukova, S.M.Pleshkova, N.R.Ablaev, S.A.Abitaeva.The present time the leads of SSG aredocent Bulygin KA, Omirzakova KK. Great contribution to the development of the SSG has made by N.R.Ablaev. During over 20 years he was ledSSG. Our SSG was the first of the best student clubs in the institute our members of groups took part in student research conferences and won prizes places.

Professor Pleshkova S.M.

Since 1984 until 1 October 2012 the department was headed honored scientist RK Academician of Preventive Medicine, Excellent Health of the USSR and the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kazakhstan State scholarship for outstanding contributions to science, MD Professor S.M. Pleshkova. Svetlana Mikhailovna started to be engaged biochemistry since the 2nd year in a scientific student club. After defense of her PhD dissertation worked as assistant department of biochemistry, then she headed of Biochemical Central Research Laboratoryof AGMI. In 1979, S.M. Pleshkova defended her dissertation for degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

Since 1986 to 1992 she was dean of the medical faculty of the institute. It has more than 270 publications, including one monograph, 25 manuals, 1 textbook, and she author of 10 patents for inventions. Under her leadership was prepared 10 doctoral and 37 master’s dissertation. During when she was head of department prof. Pleshkova SM continuous improvement in the teaching of Biological Chemistry, published manuals and textbooks in Kazakh and Russian and English languages.

From the first in October 2012 the heard of department manages Ph.D., is Professor Sharipov K.O., which first began to work as professor in November 2011 at the Department of Biological Chemistry KazNMU by named SD Asfendiyarov. Before that he worked as head of the Department of Biochemistry, Biology and Microbiology, South Kazakhstan State Pharmaceutical Academy. Sharipov K.O. started employment history senior laboratory assistant, assistant, senior lecturer and associate professor. Since 2002 he is head of the department of biochemistry. He has 22 research and teaching experience. In 1994, as a competitor, he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Sciences on “Synthesis of new organ selenium compounds based on acetylene alcohols and cyclic ketones” and the Institute of Chemical Sciences National Academy of Sciences RK.

Professor Sharipov K.O.

Sharipov K.O. was born in 1966. Work experience began as a senior laboratory assistant, assistant, senior lecturer and assistant professor. In 1983 he entered the ASMI (now KazNMU after named S.D. Asfendiyarov) for a specialty – pharmacy, and in 1990 graduated. He has 22 years of scientific and pedagogical experience. In 1994, as a competitor, he protected his scientific work on degree of candidate chemical sciences on the topic “Synthesis of new organoselenium compounds based on acetylenic alcohols and cyclic ketones” at the Institute of Chemical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2002 he successfully defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Biological Sciences on the theme “Selenium compounds – new antioxidants for the correction of toxic liver damage” at the M.A Aitkhozhin Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Doctor of Biological Sciences (03.00.04 – biochemistry) – 2002 year, professor  HАC RК – 2004 year.

Languages: Kazakh-native, Russian-fluent, English-Intermediate, French-speaking.

         Has made a significant contribution to improving  quality of the educational process (development and implementation SGSofE 2017),  actively participating in the development of state educational standards, standard and working programs. He is the author of 2 monographs and several textbooks on biochemistry published in Kazakh, Russian and English. Has more than 150 scientific publications including in the countries of near and far abroad, 4 pre-patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 1 innovation patent of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

He created new organo-organic compounds and antioxidant agents for the correction of oxidative processes and toxic damage to the liver (patents and innovative patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan № 10884, №1194, №1193, №13325, №23948 and etc.
